This one is a Netflix original. The trailer got my attention, especially at the end where the shopkeeper says, Masaba is a place in Africa! Read on to know more…
Let me tell you, MM is not a Biopic, but it is based on the life of Masaba Gupta, Designer by profession, and now a cool actor. For the uninitiated, she is the daughter of Neena Gupta who is a fine actor herself.
It revolves around Masaba’s life, day to day as well as professional. The challenges she has gone through with her divorce, moving back in with her mother, the constant pressure of outdoing herself in her professional life, and even the therapist sessions which aren’t quick fruitful. Neenaji too has been given a well-rounded role. She plays herself and we get a sneak into her struggles like trying to get acting assignments at the age of 60 or trying to balance time between her life in Delhi and Mumbai.
There sure are a lot of fictitious scenarios and somewhat shallow cameos but it’s all in good fun.
An extremely relatable real-life situation with a pinch of comedy and emotion makes it a lighthearted series. You will surely be surprised by Masaba’s acting though. She has really done well as a first timer facing the camera. Nepotism be damned! For our Millennials and Instagrammers, this could totally be cool AF since it references them a lot.
The series is totally binge-worthy. Episodes are just 25-30mins max. Out of 5, I would give it a 3😊
So “Netflix & chill” Amigas!
